Frequently asked questions
Are my files sent to a server?
No. PDF Forge runs entirely in your browser: the file is read, changed and saved on your computer. Contracts, payslips and invoices never leave it, which online PDF sites cannot say.
Why does strong compression make text unselectable?
Strong compression redraws each page as an image, which is what shrinks scans and photos the most. Use it for documents you only need to send or archive; the lossless option keeps the text.
Does it work with password-protected PDFs?
Yes: “Unlock” removes the password if you know it, while “Protect” encrypts using AES-256. The password never leaves your browser.
What does Pro add?
Every tool is free. Pro removes the limits on file size and on the number of files per merge or conversion.
Invoices arrive as PDFs by e-mail?
